| Account | The general set of client information that encapsulates all content, users, and settings in Ediflo. |
| Account ID | A unique identifying code for every account on Ediflo. |
| Archived | The status set to a piece of content that signifies it is no longer available to viewers and not visible in Ediflo. Though akin to deleting an item, the Archived status allows a user to revert the deletion and bring the content back into Ediflo. |
| Asset | An Asset houses metadata, media, and resources which are related to one video ( e.g. a movie or a show episode). |
| Asset ID | Asset identification number in the database. |
| Bio | Descriptive text relating to an individual profile of a person, such as an actor or director. |
| Brand | A type of profile. Most often this type is used for sponsor brands, companies, channels, product manufacturers, etc. Types can be created, removed, and edited in the account settings. |
| Category | Classification of content in the Library. Categories are created, removed, and edited in the account settings. An individual piece of content can have multiple categories. Existing categories can be assigned to pieces of content when editing metadata. You can also create subcategories in categories and use them for your content. |
| Channel | A method of linear distribution. |
| Channel ID | A unique identifying code for every channel in Ediflo. |
| Collection | A collection is a grouping of content, curated manually by a user. A collection can be one of three types: general, playlist and collection group. General collections can contain Assets, Series and Profiles; playlist collections can contain only Assets, and collection groups can contain only other collections and categories. You cannot change the type of collection after you create it. |
| Collection Group | A curated grouping of content, this type of collections can contain only other collections and categories. |
| Color | A resource type that can be used across your apps, e.g. for setting the accent color for the app's interface. |
| Content | A term that includes all library items that are directed towards an end-user or audience. |
| DRM | Digital rights management is a set of access control technologies for restricting the use of proprietary information, e.g. video content. |
| Encoding | Converting the video and audio from the initial format into an array of formats suitable for delivery over the internet and for playback on users' devices. |
| EPG | An Electronic Program Guide is a list of current and scheduled programs that are or will be available on each channel and a short summary or commentary for each program. An EPG is the electronic equivalent of a printed television program guide. This is the primary use case of the Ediflo Plan. |
| Episode | A type of Asset denoting it to be part of a Series. |
| Episode Code | An Episode Code is used to pair an Asset to its Media. |
| Episode Number | The number of an episode in a Series. |
| General Collection | A curated grouping of any content (Series, Assets, Profiles). |
| Image | Resource type which can be used in your apps, e.g. for thumbnail or poster for Series or Assets. |
| Ingest | A process of uploading your media files, creating corresponding assets and transcoding media into a format suitable for delivery to your customers' apps. |
| Ingest Job | A particular occurrence of the ingest process for a particular file, allowing to follow its progress and check results. |
| Interactive Studio | A section in Ediflo where you can author interactive experiences for your video content. |
| Interactive video | Video featuring an additional layer in the player that can show interactive elements, from alerts and calls-to-action to images, links, full product catalogs, timelines, and advertisement. |
| Media | A processed video file or live stream in Ediflo. When a user adds new video files or streams into Ediflo they become known as Media. Media cannot exist on their own, and therefore must be nested under an Asset, possibly along with other Media. |
| Message (Interactive) | An object containing the information that you can show on top of your video in the player. |
| Metadata | A set of data that describes and gives information about another data object. In the case of Ediflo, metadata is data describing a piece of content, such as a video, series, profile, etc. |
| Overlay (Interactive) | Type of interactive target which is usually used to deliver a single message at a time: a product, a link, a person's profile etc. |
| Parental Rating | Part of the metadata describing the age rating of an Asset or Series. |
| Permissions | What a given user is allowed to do within Ediflo. Permissions can be set to read, write, and shift. |
| Person | A type of profile. Most often this type is used for an actor, director, presenter, etc. Types can be created, removed, and edited in the account settings. |
| Plan | The Plan is a tool within Ediflo to allot time slots and curate programming for content distribution on a linear channel. Data from the Plan is often used to generate an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) on a website or app. |
| Planned Event | An individual item used in the Plan, including time- and content-related data. |
| Playlist Collection | A curated grouping of related content which can contain only Assets. |
| Profiles | A content Type used to represent Persons or Brands. |
| Published | The status set to a piece of content that signifies it will be available when VOD setting is enabled. |
| Review | The default status of every new asset that enters the Ediflo. It signifies that the content requires review or additional metadata. Content status can change to Published or Archived at any time and aims to assist in user workflows of preparing content for distribution. |
| Resource | Resources is a basic component that is used in various places throughout an app or website powered by Ediflo. Currently, there are three types of resources: images, colors, and languages. |
| Schedule | A Schedule is a detailed breakdown of an individual show’s components, ie sting, opening credits, show segments, commercial breaks. |
| Series | A Series is an organized grouping of sequenced episodes. |
| Slug | A unique identifier for each asset/series (e.g. "s01e22"). |
| Source (interactive) | A group of interactive messages of a certain type (e.g. products, images, links etc). |
| Synopsis | Description of an Asset or a Series. |
| Tag | Classification of content in the Library. An individual piece of content can have as many tags as are relevant. Existing tags can be assigned to pieces of content when editing metadata. |
| Target (Interactive) | A placeholder or a template, defining how the interactive message will be shown on top of your video in the player. |
| Thumbnail | A reduced-size version of pictures or videos used to help in recognizing and organizing them. |
| Timeline (Interactive) | Type of interactive target which is used to deliver a number of interactive messages together in the form of a sequence, usually connected to the certain time positions of the content being played. |
| Title | The general name of the content item. |
| Trigger (Interactive) | The trigger defines at which exact moment of time in your video the interactive message will be shown, how it will look (in which target it will be shown) and for how long it will stay visible. |
| Video Type | Video type is a piece of metadata that associates content. You can edit video types in the account settings. |
